Centerport, L.I.: The results of the free and fair election are tallied. Not all true Republicans won. Election deniers, or the Party of Trump, won some government leadership positions. As it should be in a democracy, this is what the people want. However, election deniers in government leadership positions are a threat to democracy. It could be a warning of more truth-bending conspiracies in the future.
Smithtown, L.I.: Your article about the Sacco and Vanzetti case (“The Vanzetti knife, a family treasure,” op-ed, Aug. 23) was particularly profound given it was placed alongside The News’ editorial tribute to Dr. Anthony Fauci on his retirement.
Manhattan: Regarding “Highest rents ever” (June 10), let’s add this: The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) has the job of upholding rent regulation laws, but they fail miserably to do so. NYC has lost tens of thousands of rent-controlled and rent-regulated apartments in recent years as landlords illegally make them market-rate.
