Appeal Court voids disqualification of Ize-Iyamu’s running mate
A state High Court had held that Mr Ize-Iyamu’s running mate presented false information to INEC and therefore was not eligible to contest the Edo governorship election last year.

The Court of Appeal in Benin has set aside the judgement of the lower court that nullified the candidacy of Ganiyu Audu, the running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in the 2020 governorship election in Edo State.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had filed a suit in the state High court against Mr Audu, whom he said was not qualified to be Mr Ize-Iyamu’s running mate. ....

Appeal Court upholds candidacy of Ize-Iyamu's running mate

of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s running mate, Ganiyu Audu, in the September 19 governorship election.
Audu’s candidacy as deputy governor on the APC platform was nullified by the state high court for presenting false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in his form EC9 affidavit.
The High Court ruled in a petition filed by Kadiri Oshoakhemhe challenging the candidacy of the APC deputy governorship candidate as running mate to Ize-Iyamu.
Following the High Court ruling, the APC governorship candidate, Ize-Iyamu filed an appeal, seeking the Court to set aside the judgement of the lower court and dismiss the suit filed by Kadiri Oshoakhemhe. ....
