But it is owned by a chinese company, bytedance, and it is this last fact that concerns the us security forces. There is in fact a precedent for this us announcement. India has already blocked the app, and australia is also considering a ban. Here is our Technology Reporter chris fox. Well, the app has been decompiled by security researchers. Theyve looked deep into it, and as yet, they havent found a smoking gun. Theres nothing obvious in the app that seems to be sending information back to the chinese.
