Forty-two-year-old Daniel Ray Garcia of Seagraves has been sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of attempted capital murder.
KAMC News reports that back in April 2019, officers attempted to pull over Garcia, but he led them on a chase and opened fire. This happened near 9th Street and Avenue J in Seagraves, Texas.
It s said that during the shootout, both Garcia and the officer, Matthew Zalewski, were transported to a nearby hospital.
After Garcia was sentenced, Zalewski posted on his social media the following:
I am blessed and lucky to be here, and I am grateful for all the people who assisted me that day, assisted in the investigation, and assisted in the Trial. I would like to thank Chief Brent Grundström and EB Resendez for all the support and for having my back, and my Department at the the time.
