It was a dramatic scene Friday as a deadly brush fire raced towards residents in the Jamestown Estates mobile home park in Lakewood, leaving little time for escape.
Mobile owners pay rising rents and live in fear that their land rental could be sold to a developer. Buying the park and going co-op gives them peace of mind.
The push to promote resident ownership comes as parks have become a favorite target of investment banks, hedge funds and other deep-pocketed investors.
