The Telangana government will institute a new award in the name of revolutionary Telugu balladeer Gummadi Vittal Rao aka Gaddar and henceforth this award will replace Nandi awards which has been given to the film artistes from the Telugu film industry.
Revanth Reddy made the announcement at a programme organised by the state government to pay tributes to Gaddar on his birth anniversary. The Gaddar awards will be given every year on January 31 to poets, artists and film personalities. A government order will be issued in this regard.
