the mexican-american a new hope for opportunity to fix efforts to assist spanish-speaking americans as part of the war on poverty. many of the programs continue to the present day under other federal agencies. [video clip] ever since my teaching days, i have worked for the education of progress of the spanish-speaking people of this great country of ours. juan is a mexican-american. i emphasize american. i created the mexican affairs committee in 1967. it is made up of some of the ablest members of my cabinet. it is the highest level committee that i could possibly name because the spanish-speaking people, i think, need to get closer to their government and to get action from their government and to get action from the private agencies. we are bringing the government to the people rather than having the people come to the government. i always thought this was the better way. we are here for solution. and not just to have a sad report once again of the many ....

united states bicentennial. people who were working here thought, the new york city subway is one of our country s great engineering achievements, so let s put it into some sort of exhibit that people can enjoy in the year of the bicentennial. so this station that we re standing in been mothballed, wasn t being used. cars had been squirreled away in a few yards. turnstiles were squirreled away in a few places. and so the people that worked here were able to organize bringing all of these cars into this station, and opened the facility as an exhibit called the new york city transit exhibit. it was only supposed to stay open from 4th of july until labor day of that year, 1976. but we ve never closed. so it was obviously very popular, and we ve grown it from then until now, into really a world-class museum that is very much about new york city s infrastructure and the history of its development as a world-class city. as you walk down the steps from our entrance, you find y ....

next page, that happens to be a picture of lynn when she was getting ready to go down to girls state. i moved here starting in the eighth grade. lynn wereen dick and moving in around the same time. we all met at the first of that school year and knew each other for the next five years. we would all go to the same parties and dances. they never dated until they were seniors because everybody kind of co-mingled with everybody else. it was not like it is today. they were very popular, of course. the baton twirling in front of the high school marching band. everybody knew them. the school was not that big. this is the student council page. dick happens to be right there. he was our class president. down below is pat ellis. , who was an interesting figure in the u.s. military. he went on and made a military career. this is paula barry. the next thing we can take a look at is the beginning of our senior year. this was our class officers at that time. dick is backing here is a ....
