Long Island City: We are in the middle of a political pissing contest. The Republicans do not want to work with each other, and the delays are handcuffing Democrats. This is an antiquated ideology. The last administration does not deserve the respect of being mentioned by name; I refer to it as the failed coup.
Brooklyn: There are many wonderful things about being a new parent. Finding and paying for child care in New York City, however, is not one of them. Now, instead of using the city’s collective resources to help working parents, Mayor Adams’ recently released budget proposal declares an all-out war on families, with cuts to early childhood programs, public schools and libraries.
Staten Island: Voicer Maria Sinclair bemoaned the piddling amount given to her for her serious illnesses from her time at Ground Zero. She’s not alone. It seems the Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund prioritized payments for these exact same diseases to cops and firefighters while simply crapping on all others.
Manhattan: With politicians, you have to watch what they do, not be fooled by what they say. Republicans may be shouting about crime now, but the current crime wave began during Donald Trump’s time in the White House and Republicans did nothing about it when they were in power.
Manhattan: Last weekend, the disgraced former president made the three most damning statements since leaving office. At a rally in Texas, Donald Trump, the defeated stain permanently embedded in our history, vowed to, should he win in 2024, pardon those who have been arrested for their participation in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
