Nigeria First Female Engineer, Maduka Celebrates 80

The first female engineer in Nigeria and pioneer President Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Mrs. Joana Olatunmbi Maduka is 80.
An Oak Jubilee Zoom party was organised by the association in her honour with family members, friends and colleagues in the engineering profession in attendance, to wish her well.
Some of the dignitaries that turned out to celebrate the woman who had impacted the field and done a lot in mainstreaming gender were; renowned industrialist and investment expert, Chief Mrs. Onikepo Akande, first female President of the Association of Consulting Engineering of Nigeria ( ACEN), Mrs. Mayen Adetiba, pioneer Vice-Chancellor, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prof. Fola Lasisi, President, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Babagana Mohammed, other founding members of APWEN, among others. ....

STEM: Foundation Gives Scholarship to Female Students

Seven female students have benefitted from the Osaide for Girls in Science and Engineering Foundation scholarship award, aimed at promoting and advancing the education of young people in the area of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Four were drawn from the secondary category, while three from the university.
They are; Miss Esohe Idemudia and Purity Eloghosa Edegbe of St.Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School, Franca Osaigbovo of Oba Akenzua Secondary School, Mercy Osawonyi of Imaguero Girls Secondary School, all in Benin Edo State.
Others in the university category include; a Chemical Engineering student, Miss Esther Imhande, Civil Engineering student of Jasmine Aizenosa Nosa-Ehima, as well as Hephzibah Chidimma Maduka, a postgraduate student, all from University of Benin. ....
