Upon completing my PhD at the University of Miami, I returned to Trinidad and Tobago in 2018. The first change that I noticed moving back home was the large number of Venezuelans almost everywhere I went in supermarkets, malls, taxis, and bars, even in the countryside where I lived. Eager to practice my Spanish, I often struck up conversations with Venezuelan migrants who were willing to speak to me, as almost none of them knew any English. From time to time, I hired Venezuelans to do odd jobs around the house. One day I offered Carlos, a migrant whom I had recently met, a hot lunch prepared by my mother after he was finished working. Priest at shot man's funeral: Don't blame the police

THERE was grief and anger amongst relatives and friends of Kern Cava Richards who came to pay their last respects to him at his family s home at Bouge Grande Chemin Road, Icacos on Friday.
Richards. 38, was shot dead by police last Friday. But at his funeral service later at St Patrick s RC Church in Fullarton, the priest, Dexter Mitchell, told the congregation not to seek revenge or blame the police for Richards death.
At Richards house, several people cried as they stood next to his glass-covered casket. His mother Michelle wept as she sat next to the casket with her left hand on his right shoulder. Other relatives gathered around to comfort her. ....
