Fibre rollout increases pace throughout Europe, reaching 182MN homes

The total number of homes passed with fibre to the home (FTTH) and fibre to the building (FTTB) in Europe reached nearly 182.6 million in September 2020, compared with 172 million in September 2019, according to the FTTH Council Europe.
The FTTH Council Europe believes that the report confirms that fibre roll-outs are taking place at an increasingly faster pace in Europe, and the EU is making a very significant – though uneven – progress in meeting its connectivity targets. Three European economies that have recently intensified their fibre rollout – Germany, Italy, and the UK – still account for almost 60% of the entire remaining homes to be passed in the EU27+UK region. ....

Digi's turns attention to FTTH, B2B revenue


s focus on growth in postpaid and fixed subscribers as well as B2B revenue could help to mitigate the risk of further declines in average revenue per user (Arpu).
Among other targets in Digi s three-year growth plan, Digi is targeting to achieve a 20% growth in postpaid and fixed (FTTH) subscribers and a 33% growth in
B2B revenue, both from 2020 base, said Kenanga Research in a note.
It added that it foresees continued downward pressure on prepaid subs due to migrant workers being unlikely to return to Malaysia in 2021.
Kenanga, which has a market perform recommendation on Digi, raised its FY21/22 core net profit forecasts by 22%/20% to RM1.16bil/RM1.19bil respectively on lower Opex assumptions and 1% adjustment to FY22 revenue on stronger postpaid subs growth. ....

Orange Poland partners with APG for FTTH

Orange Poland has entered a 50-50 agreement with APG to roll out fibre in areas where access to very high-speed broadband infrastructure is limited or inexistent.
The joint venture will integrate 2.4 million lines, including 1.7 million households that will be deployed over the next five years.
The transaction values the joint venture at €605 million. As a result, Orange Poland will receive €303 million from APG, of which 65% will be transferred on closing and the rest between 2022 and 2026 as the deployment plan advances.
Orange Poland says the project will allow it to pursue its fibreoptic rollout strategy by sharing investment costs. ....
