Maine public health officials reported 254 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the fourth time in five days cases have been below 300.
But four additional deaths were reported as well and hospitalizations reached their highest point in more than two and a half months.
The seven-day daily case average now stands at 297, which is down from 423 two weeks ago but still up from 198 cases on average one month ago, according to data tracked by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Since the pandemic began, there have been 60,945 confirmed or probable cases and 782 people have died. The state is still averaging more than one death per day over the last month. ....

Jockey Cap to appear on Fryeburg town warrant

FRYEBURG, Maine â Fryeburg selectmen will be asking voters in June to allow the town to pursue acquiring 100 percent ownership of Jockey Cap from a resident and put it into conservation.
The 600-foot granite dome has an accessible trail and at the summit there is a memorial to Adm. Richard Peary, who once lived in Fryeburg in the late 19th century.
One can reach the top in under 20 minutes. Dollar General, located at 124 Bridgton Road, is located at the base now, though there used to be a motel there.
From the summit of Jockey Cap, you can see Lovewell Pond to the east, and Mount Chocorua to the west. ....

Portland Expo Clinic, which is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
