LDWF hoping for federal legislation that can help conserve fish and wildlife species

There’s legislation in Congress waiting to be discussed that would dedicate 16-million dollars a year to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries that will help the agency’s efforts to protect endangered species and habitats.
LDWF Biologist Director Amity Bass on the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
“We have over 360 species that are in are need of immediate conservation because we found they are precipitously declining,” said Bass.
The Louisiana Pearlshell (mussel), the Louisiana Pinesnake and Alligator Snapping Turtle, Frosted Elfin (butterfly), and Black Rail (bird) are among the species at risk in Louisiana. ....
