(WTVM) - A pedestrian is dead Friday night after being hit by a vehicle in Columbus. The accident happened on Veterans Parkway near River Road. Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at 10:56 p.m. The victim’s identity has not been released. (WTVM) - A man visiting Columbus from New Jersey is dead after an early morning shooting on Steam Mill Rd. in Columbus. Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley confirmed that a fatal shooting took place in the 4400 block of Steam Mill Rd. Worley pronounced the man dead at 5:55 a.m. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the man as 36-year-old Tayquann James. Bryan said James is a resident of Patterson, New Jersey and was only in Columbus visiting. ....

Columbus police say they were called to the 1700 block of Boxwood Blvd. for a service call. According to Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley, the body was found in Lindsey Creek near Midtown Drive and Midtown Loop. The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Anthony Payne. Payne was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. ....
