The city Planning Board voted 4-0 Tuesday night to approve the Gloversville Free Methodist Church’s special use permit and site plan application to allow the Rob Constantine Recovery Community and Outreach Center to move into 33 Bleecker St., site of the former YWCA.
Ginger Cato, the center’s director, was overcome with emotion after the board granted the use permit, which will allow her organization to move from its current location at 86 Briggs St., where the lease is set to expire by the end of April. With tears in her eyes, she explained the impact of being able to move her organization’s “post-recovery group” services to downtown Gloversville.

JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Board of Supervisors on Monday appointed the two major parties’ election commissioners to two-year terms, including a new Democratic Party commissioner.
The appointments were on the recommendations of each party’s formal committees, and terms run until Dec. 31, 2022.
Supervisors appointed G. Jeremiah Ryan of Gloversville as Fulton County Board of Elections’ Democratic election commissioner. He replaces John Zawadzki. The vote for Ryan was 18-1, with Republican Northampton Supervisor James Groff voting no.
Long-time Republican Election Commissioner Lee Hollenbeck of Broadalbin was also reappointed.
County Administrative Officer Jon Stead told the board during its online meeting that it was acting on very last-minute resolutions.
