As a child he went with his father to Air Products company clambakes at the Grove in Longswamp Township. Before it was a public park, it was a gathering space open to the community through the generosity of an Allentown builder, Levinus W. Hunsicker. 
There was like little stream coming off the pond, Fritch said. I remember catching frogs and snails.
