[inaudible conversations] this morning we will discuss nine bills related the9 outdoor recreation. innovative ways to include outdoor recreation opportunities and for seeking to help both the public and business that serve them. i m especially proud to have partnered with ranking member barrasso on the outdoor recreation act, and i will talk about our bill shortly. but first, i want to acknowledge we will have senator lujan [inaudible conversations] joining us this morning to be speak about his bill, and i welcome him to the committee when he shows up. let me begin by saying it s been a powerful economic driver, i ve seen firsthand jobs that outdoor recreation economy has brought to rural areas in west virginia. the outdoor recreation industry generates 1.8% of my state s gross domestic product and supports over 18,000 jobs. and almost 3% of our work force is now employed in the outdoor recreation sector the having earned $641 million in salaries this last year alone. h
