UBC prof led pioneering study on the effects of TV in the 1970s

Notel was the fictional name given by MacBeth, a UBC psychology professor, to a real B.C. town (pop. 658) in the Rocky Mountain Trench which, because of the mountains surrounding it, was one of the last settlements in North America to receive TV signals. She never did reveal the real name of the town.
