Plans for a condominium project in Frankstown Township received a positive review Thursday by Blair County Planning Commission members, who also gave their support to Logan Township’s plans to make improvements to Leopold Park.
The Hopper Commons project in Frankstown Township calls for construction of six condominium buildings totaling 52 units on an 8.2-acre parcel along Brush Mountain Road.
In addition to the proposed condominiums, a community building, maintenance building, playground, picnic area, parking lots, access drives, sidewalks, landscaping and stormwater management facilities are proposed.
Access to the site will be through a 22-foot wide access driveway connection to Brush Mountain Road. The proposed access driveway, as well as the 22-foot driveway aisles through the site should provide adequate vehicle circulation and maneuverability within the site, said Jamie L. Klink, regional planner. ....

At a City Council meeting Monday, the president of the city firefighters’ union questioned the city’s decision not to apply for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act money from Blair County given that Logan Township applied for the funding and received $622,000.
The city didn’t apply because it’s getting reimbursed for its direct COVID-19 expenses from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and because it wished to defer to AMED and the Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission, which have been damaged financially more than the city by COVID-19, said City Manager Ken Decker. ....
