Dutch discount airline Transavia will begin charging passengers for carry-on luggage that requires placement in an overhead luggage bin. The minimum price for the cabin luggage will start at 10 euros per piece for each direction of travel.

Netherlands residents will spend more and more on holidays in the coming years, regardless of their age. Holiday spending is expected to increase by 30 percent until 2027, ABN Amro said in a report on the travel sector. According to the Dutch Tourism & Conventions Board (NBTC), fewer Dutch people plan to spend their next vacation in the Netherlands, increasingly opting for a holiday elsewhere in Europe.

Transavia preparing to charge airline passengers for carry-on luggage

Dutch discount airline Transavia is considering a move to force its airline passengers to pay an additional fee if they want to bring baggage inside the cabin. The airline said it was part of a package of options being examined as a way to boost revenue. Transavia is under pressure by its parent company, Air France - KLM, to increase revenue generated by optional add-ons by an additional 125 million euros annually.
