Organizations magazine asking the question, what is american conservatism. Tell me about this project . Mr. Burtka thank you so much for having me on, susan. I conceived of the project because there is a lot going on in our country right now and it is unsettling times for a number of americans. Everything having to do with the covid crisis, to the lockdowns, to the killing of george floyd and subsequent protests and riots, and the president ial election. So a lot of people are taking the opportunity to really reexamine first principles, and trying to figure out where we stand as a nation. And people on the right at the end of the president s term as the end of the president s term comes into focus are asking themselves what is conservatism . Has the president made an impact on the overall trajectory of the conservative movement and the Republican Party . So i want to take this opportunity to reexamine those fundamental questions ....

Im nancy and i am the democratic chair. As you know, i ran for office and failed and then ran for school board but im going to keep it up because i never g got i know about discrimination. When i was in eighth grade, we moved fr ed from iowa and th kress cal, iowa. Its wellknown for basketball. We did the petitions and we had 1,000 signatures and guess what the school board said. No girls basketball. So we had no girls sports until after title 9. I have a sister whos eight years younger than i am. Shes in the Wisconsin UniversityAthletic Hall of fame. And that was because of discrimination, i didnt have that opportunity. I also was a farmers wife and i went to sign up our farm with usda and gu ....

Flames quickly spread to this house. Raymond sue lives yards away. He snapped this photo while hosing down his own home. There were lots of flames and the flames had consumed whole trees. The flames were much taller than the outsides. Reporter neighbor lisa nguyen is worried about the fire reaching her home. I have three dogs in the house right now. Reporter the flames burned a section of one house and moved on to other neighbors yards. Firefighters had to deal with steep terrain, dry grass, and temperatures soaring past 100 degrees. It was so hot, firefighters could only work 40minute shifts. So backup crews were sent in to relieve them. Weve had one firefighter have a heatrelated problem. He is being treated here onscene. He was not transported to the hospital. Reporter firefighters have received several reports from neighbors saying they saw power lines smoke and saw at least one home catch fire.
