Framingham group seeks to update outdated Veterans Memorial Park
FRAMINGHAM Veterans Memorial Park has its share of problems.
The park is in disrepair, doesn t meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards and doesn t recognize veterans who have served since the Vietnam War.
A group of volunteers comprised mostly of city department heads, and led by the Framingham Police Union, is determined to renovate the park and honor those who have served during more recent times.
“It hasn’t been updated since Vietnam,” said police Lt. Robert Downing. “There will be updates and we will make it ADA compliant.”
The park, at the Musterfield at Concord Place housing complex next to Framingham District Court, was last renovated more than 30 years ago.
