Rather than coming clean, Joanne, 49, roped in 22-year-old son Fox into hiding two knives and a blade in a McDonald’s bag in order to protect her. When emergency services arrived at the scene, he was playing with a ball in the garden, despite being covered in his father’s blood. But both mother and son were jailed at Hull Crown Court this week. Joanne was sentenced to six years and eight months after being convicted of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Fox Singleton was handed a sentence of eight months suspended for two years for two counts of assisting an offender. ....

Joanne Singleton, 49, attacked Kevin Singleton at their home in Althorpe, near Scunthorpe, in September 2020. Despite the attack, Mr Singleton told Hull Crown Court: I can t forget that day but on balance I can forgive her . Mrs Singleton, from Althorpe, was jailed for six years and eight months after admitting wounding with intent. The court heard Mrs Singleton, who was originally charged with attempted murder, attacked her husband of 25 years in the early hours of 7 September as she thought he had been cheating on her. ....
