Onondaga County Health Commissioner: Hear Concerns, Use Facts To Address Vaccine Hesitancy

Dr. Indu Gupta says the key to addressing vaccine hesitancy is acknowledging the unease of those who are apprehensive to get shot.
In order to combat vaccine hesitancy, Gupta said, those trusted community members need to have continued dialogue that respects people’s unease.
“I think we need to hear the concerns, because there is a fear and I don’t think we should minimize that fear. We need to find the answers for them and provide that information the way it will resonate with them,” Gupta said. “I strongly believe that if we continue to work on that, the majority of people will be very willing to get the vaccination.” ....

Onondaga County To Start Vaccinating 12-15 Year Olds Starting Thursday

Syracuse, N.Y. - The CDC has approved the Pfizer Vaccine for 12-15-year-olds and Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon is wasting no time.
He has already announced 3 new clinics. Tomorrow (Thursday) 4-7p at the Oncenter, Saturday 9-12p at the Oncenter, and Monday 4-7p at PSLA at Fowler High School.

Onondaga County announces vaccine clinics for ages 12-15 as CDC on cusp of final approval

The clinics are:
9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Oncenter
4 to 7 p.m. Monday at PSLA Fowler High School
You can register soon for appointments here: http://ongov.net. Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said through social media the website would be updated soon.
This afternoon, a CDC advisory panel recommended that the Pfizer vaccine be used in children as young as 12, the Washington Post reported this afternoon. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is expected to sign off later today, the last step for beginning vaccinations among adolescents, the paper reported. ....

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Fire Department today graduated one of its most diverse class of cadets the department has ever had.
More than 40 percent of the 27 graduates are Black, making it the second straight time a class has been 40 percent Black.
The last two classes were each hired under Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds and helped the city make good on an agreement it reached in federal court 40 years ago to make at least a quarter of its hires Black. ....

KCA brings in new board and officers Kansas Cattlemen's association

Three board members joined the Kansas Cattlemen s Association on April 16. During that meeting, KCA elected Riley Robbins as president, John Ney as vice president and Joel Ireland secretary/treasurer.
Greg Davis, Nicole Pfrang and Andrew Miller retired from the board. The three new members are Larry Kendig, Joel Ireland and Gus Bartlett. Each one has a different focus and background.
Larry Kendig wants to bring transparency into agricultural markets. While Joel Ireland advocates for the reinstatement of Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling and extensive reforms to the Beef Checkoff. Along with Kendig and Ireland, Gus Bartlett believes the grassroots efforts of KCA are imperative to provide a successful future for independent cattle producers. ....
