Bipartisan legislation introduced Monday by the Forsyth County House delegation would provide $5 million to expand arts and wellness services at the Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Care Center. House Bill 593 would provide Senior Services Inc. with $3 million from the 2021-22 state budget and an additional $2 million from the 2022-23 budget. The Williams center services local residents who are living with Alzheimer s and other forms of dementia. The goal is building a new and expanded center that will bring health, wellness, arts and intergenerational program partners under one roof. The dedicated space would go from 10,000 to 15,000 square feet. The current center is at 2895 Shorefair Drive in Winston-Salem. The new building would be on the same campus. ....

A bipartisan House Bill 131Â was submitted Tuesday by the Forsyth County House delegation. UNC School of the Arts owns the 77,500-square-foot building. In September 2017, UNCSA s board of trustees approved a concept master renovation plan. Construction and other items, including furnishings, new rigging systems, lighting and audio/visual equipment, were projected at the time to cost $35.2 million. Renovations to the 10-level building would include a second balcony and the elimination of some seats. The overall renovations are expected to take 18 months. ....
