Univision just went on one hell of a hiring spree. The Spanish-language leader has brought aboard Pierluigi Gazzolo, Luis Silberwasser and Donna Speciale and each carries a “president” title.
Gazzolo, who hails from ViacomCBS, is president of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) and chief transformation officer. Silberwasser is president of Univision Television Networks Group. Those are both newly created positions.
Speciale, as you probably guessed, is Univision’s new president of ad sales and marketing. ....

Her dreams were finally realized in 2019 when the two merged in a stock-for-stock deal. Former Viacom shareholders sued, alleging that this was a transaction in which a controlling stockholder – Redstone – stood on both sides, and that the deal sold out the Viacom shareholders to benefit CBS and Redstone.

Former Viacom CFO Wade Davis’ ForgeLight and Searchlight Capital have closed their acquisition of Univision, the two investment companies announced Tuesday.
The deal, first announced in February, gives the two companies a 64% majority stake in Univision, the country’s top Spanish-language broadcaster. Televisa, the Mexican media company which supplies much of Univision’s programming, retains its 36% share in the company and will continue to serve as an “important strategic partner” to the new owners. ....
