The cause of the fire is not known, officials said.
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture said the welcome center is still open, and firefighters are staged nearby to protect it if needed.
Right now the wild fire is threatening about 30 structures, some of which may be residential. State Forestry Division Spokesman Tim Phelps said so far there have been no evacuations.
According to Cocke County Fire Department, firefighters have been working to contain the fire since 1 p.m. Thursday.
Last night, responders estimated about 360 acres were on fire. It s unclear how large the fire is now, but Phelps said it s definitely over 100 acres.
