People huddled on the foreshore, wrapped in blankets and goldfoil blankets to stay warm. some people have been taken to hospital with probably hypothermia, iwould imagine. but lots of details still coming out. the search and rescue operation is ongoing. and that involves a helicopter and boats from the coastguard. and the one of the guardia financer, which is another major government agency and the red cross are on the scene. the unhcr is also sending a team. where are the migrants thought to have come from? the migrants believed to have come from iran, pakistan and afghanistan. we don t have a complete picture of this, so we re not sure where they started theirjourney. and as i say, some reports, unconfirmed as of yet from survivors, suggest that perhaps the boat may have had more than 200 people on board. ....

This ship was thought to have been a dutch barge called the two brothers. but after an archaeological excavation and some sifting through the archives, it was identified as a west country schooner called thejohn sims. when we investigated her, we found that she wasn t built like one. she was built far more like a west country ship. accidentally finding her name in a letter was just a stroke of luck, but that allowed us to find a photograph of her. we then advertised the fact that she s here on social media and on our website. and i expect, what usually happens, is that the families of people associated with the ship get in touch. there s a lot involved in identifying a ship which has broken down as much as this, including getting your hands dirty at low tide. so one of the things that we do when we re looking at the hulks and the wrecks and even what we do underwater is we have to kind of figure out what type of vessel it is if we don t know the name of it. thejohn sims is just one of ....
