Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Services (DSS), has commenced an investigation into the forgery of ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s signature on official documents. This follows the release of a forensic report by the Association of Forensic Professionals of Nigeria (AFPON). AFPON confirmed in the report that Akeredolu’s signature was forged on an official document. And there are indications that there may be more of such forgeries. ....
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s son has sought the assistance of President Bola Tinubu to get an air ambulance to return his ailing father to Germany where he had been receiving treatment. In 2009, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State asked the then-President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to resign as he could no longer perform his functions. Akeredolu, then President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) repeatedly called on the late President to resign due to his ill health and allow his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan to take over. Yar’Adua and Jonathan were elected as president and vice president in 2007. He frequently fell ill and eventually died in May 2010. ....
