To actualize its policy on skills acquisition and youth empowerment, the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has called for applications from qualified candidates for appointments as General Managers of the newly established State Tech Hub and Youth Innovation Centres in Enugu Urban and Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.

The contract for the rehabilitation of the 9th Mile Crash Programme Water Supply Scheme has been reportedly awarded to FordMarx Nigeria Limited by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Governor of Enugu State. FordMax, as reported, is a dynamic multinational engineering company that provides a wide range of engineering services such as installation, supply, design, and implementation of renewable solar energy and water projects.

With a contract worth (US)$ 1.5m, the project is due for six months that would boost the reticulated volume water from the Scheme to the Enugu metropolis and suburbs, according to Anthony Dubem Onyia, the Special Adviser on Water Resources. He further disclosed that the aforementioned project also has a warranty of 2 years and a maintenance period covered by the contracted company. ....

In Nigeria, the government of Enugu State has just appointed the engineering company FordMarx Nigeria to carry out the complete rehabilitation of the water supply network in the 9th Mile Crash Programme in Enugu. The local government has released 600 million Nigerian naira (nearly US$1.6 million) for the implementation of the project, which will eventually provide 28,000 cubic metres of water per day to the people of Enugu.

Years ago, as a small boy, I remember while coming into Enugu Coal City, and looking down from the Hilltop, before getting to the Milliken Hill, the entire city would be glittering, blazing, dazzling, particularly at night. It was a beautiful sight to behold, as electric lights would be shinning everywhere. We used to call it: Obodo oku n ewu n enu (a town where light shines on its top).
And when you came down from the Milliken Hill, and looked to your right, you would see water gushing out heavily, and non-stop from a very big panel, with an inscription PWD 1926 . You would become perplexed, amazed. It was like an artisan well where water would be flowing day and night. ....

Enugu State Government has awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the 9th Mile water scheme at the cost of N600 million to boost water supply in the state.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources, Mr Anthony Onyia in Enugu on Wednesday said the contract was awarded to FordMarx Nigeria Ltd.
Onyia said that the ‘Crash Programme’ water supply would be solar powered to address the peculiar challenges of power supply.
He said that the contract, which had a six-month duration, would boost the volume of water being supplied to the state metropolis and its environment. ....
