Every penny counts for a Superior non-profit that has set out to surprise struggling families with the joy of Christmas.
For six years, Penneys from Heaven has been providing families who have had a member fall ill or pass away with presents.
Nina Penney, the owner of Penneys from Heaven, explained that the non-profit takes nominations for families to surprise at the start of each holiday season. They then place Christmas trees at local businesses and decorate them with tags that have gift ideas written on them.
“We work with the person that nominates them. We give them 24 hours to give us some quick ideas. Once we get those ideas, we get the tags done and on the trees,” Penney said. ....
