WILMINGTON â WilÂmingtonâs Board of Health Director Shelly Newhouse shared at the Board of Selectman meetÂing on Monday night that the current COVID-19 numbers were at exÂactly 200 positives and over 600 residents in quaÂrantine. This was part of the COVID-19 update givÂen by Newhouse and Fire Chief Bill CavaÂnaugh.
With COVID-19 spreadÂing mostly within houseÂholds, she explained the numbers reported earlier that day were the reÂsult of Thanksgiving gatherings and travel.
âOne person picks it up and brings it back, and the contacts go from there,â she said.
She also reiterated the complexity of contact tracing that makes it a cumbersome process. For that reason, she mentioned the department has hired a few part-time nurses who are taking on a few caÂses of contact tracing per day.
