unsafety. the county clerk dennis sand and county executive mary ellen odell. good to see you. thank you. i want to thank you because i thought it was a courageous stand and you did it for the safety of your residence in spite of what happened. give us some background. well, we received a foil question, or our county clerk did. we are a team at putnam county. we consider ourselves to be colleagues and protecting the people and upholding the law and we looked at this and said, there is really no value to this. we felt that actually as if we did give that information out we would be subjecting residents to safety problems. i sat on it a few days just before christmas. i noticed what happened in rockland and westchester county.
they probably thought about it. what did you think about the debate. the big thing that you are talking about this morning is the libya situation. we waited sometime for the question to come about foreign policy and the only question about 48. it was a 48 hour oil question. that answered question was answered by hillary clinton about the security of benghazi. brian: why oust all of the questions . that was the best one to go in i am shot sure. i loved the fact that they interacted. i thought president obama did better . mitt romney did the best. it is a matter of timing. he wanted to answer the question about chinese. and mr. romney. he s out of time . different ways in which he wanted to counter act the president he couldn t do that. and i thought the president
europeans starting to cut off their oil purchases, would that really hurt iran? could that actually make a difference to the point where they might rethink the nuclear program? well, it could have some economic impact. but let s start with exactly where we are today, as the director of national intelligence said, obama s own appointee, nothing that has been done so far has affected the nuclear weapons program. as a general proposition, sanctions are only effective if they re truly comprehensive and rigorously enforced, and on the oil question specifically, india has said it will continue to import iranian oil, china has, turkey has, you ve got south korea, japan, which say they may cut back, on but on the other hand, they may not. this is is an environment in which the iranians are going to find ways around the sanctions. will it marginally increase their cost? possibly. but are the sanctions going to bring them to their knees on the nuclear program? no way. and i think it s delusion
