Is the republican party has a collective action problem. everybody seems to be looking at everybody else, like, you re going to do something about this, right? you re not going to let this happen again, right? you don t want to be the one who is going to throw yourself on the political hand grenade like liz cheney did. i mean, there s a lot of focus on whether, you know, ron desantis will run and whether he d be able to take him on. there s some polls suggesting he might be competitive. but he is competitive in a one-to-one race. what if, in fact, we have a replay of 2015 and 2016, where you have all these candidates in the race? donald trump may not be as popular as he once was, but he could run the table with the kind of numbers he has. i think what you saw in florida and in arizona, though, is this continuum in the republican party, where donald trump is not just embracing magaism. think about the people he s associating with on the continuum, and it is a long continuum in conservat ....

Linda tripp. i think that s part of it. some of it could also be foreshadowing what republicans are going to do in the senate when they if they were to control a lot more in a senate trial. right now i don t think i think this is really a sham and sort of a diversion. actually, we may end up seeing some of these people called when this gets to the senate. that s an interesting thought. i hadn t gone there yet, that far ahead. but molly, we have this response from adam schiff now. he does control who ultimately ends up testifying public because he s the chair of the house intelligence committee. of course, it s a democratic majority. he s saying he won t let the republicans hijack the impeachment inquiry with what he calls sham investigations. can schiff possibly find a happy medium between maintaining this focus on whether president trump committed an impeachable offense and not having republicans feel like they ve been left out of the process? yeah, i mean, the democrats are o ....

For so long was aadvocating against the president. to what extent do you think it is a john dowd memo that he s making here? i think that s a big part of it as careful said, this is a case that they ve been laying out in public for some time. i do think the focus on whether what trump did meets the precise definition for example of obstruction of justice or whether he could technically be charged or shut down the investigation into him, it s a little bit diversionary because the real question at least regarding president trump himself whether mueller puts together a report that could ultimately form the basis of what effectively would be an impeachment referral to congress. there i don t think the legal technicalities we see addressed in this memo are in fact all of that critical. it more becomes a question of what investigation can mueller put together and would he push forward with a subpoena? would he want to have that kind of showdown as carol says or ....

Whether his attorneys, in the end, are going to let him sit down with the special counsel, because this comes as they re negotiating his potential testimony. it adds an open question, will he even sits down with him. these topics, jeffrey, what does it say to you about the president s potential vulnerability? well, it says a lot of bad news and a little good news for donald trump. it s bad news, because these questions all focus on whether donald trump himself obstructed justice. i mean, that has been the core of the investigation. remember, the whole issue that prompted the hiring of robert mueller was the firing of james comey and that remains at the heart of the investigation and trump is in the prosecutor s sights for that, no question. it s good news for trump, in at least one way, in that some of the subjects they re not apparently as interested in. the whole issue of any contacts with russia, they don t appear to be asking trump about, collusion. they don t appear to be aski ....
