BHUBANESWAR: Fakir Mohan University Balasore will set up a technology business incubator (TBI) in its campus very soon to promote entrepreneurship with the help of the government and private business bodies. The university collaborated with KIIT-TBI on Wednesday for creating entrepreneurship among youths and students.
Dinabandhu Sahoo, vice-chancellor of Fakir Mohan University, said an incubation centre is needed for this region of the state to help the entrepreneurs especially start-ups. “Several industrial houses are operating their business in Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Youths and students can create their enterprises by using our TBI to solve the local problems and generate employment,” he added. ....

BHUBANESWAR: The Fakir Mohan University on Friday launched a new initiative meet eminent academics and people from the corporate world to familiarise its students with the industry and the corporate world.
Vice-chancellor Dinabandhu Sahoo said the university will host a lecture or interaction series for the students as part of the initiative. On the inaugural day of the lecture series, HK Patnaik, an industrialist from Vadodora, spoke about global waste management techniques and opportunities of employment for students in the industry sector.
“While the university stands for training young brains, industries stand for widening employment to such young brains. Therefore, university-industry partnership is the need of the hour,” said Sahoo. ....

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: A webinar was organised on the theme ‘Coastal ecosystems of Odisha: Human impacts and changing scenario’ by Odisha Environmental Society Sunday. Experts said that while global warming and climate change are gaining momentum as the off shoot of unsustainable developmental practices, scientists are warning about the vulnerability of the coastal regions to such detrimental alterations.
Under such circumstance, mitigation and adaptation measures are required to be undertaken in right earnest to protect the coastal resources and the flow of benefits from them. Coasts are very sensitive to sea level rise, increase in frequency and intensity of storms, higher level of precipitation and warmer ocean temperatures. Further, rising carbon dioxide concentration is making seawaters more acidic, which has significant impact on coastal ecosystems and ....
