That very critical care. people have just left the field the last two years. and you can understand why with all the stress. in some cases with all the threats. we put a chart up on hospitalizations which actually began to dip. you had a delta surge. hospitalizations began to go down. what are you expecting the next few weeks? well, we are still hovering very close to our all-time record high. and you re right, we did see perhaps a peak of the delta surge. now we re on the very cusp of an omicron surge that may not peak until later this month. and in fact, we are still dealing with a rise in flu cases. in fact, we have more flu cases in our hospitals here in michigan right now than we had at any point during last year s flu season. so that s a real point of concern as well, as well as all of this pent-up demand for care that was delayed during the earlier stages of the pandemic. so it is a very, very delicate situation we have right now. ....
Work overnight last night and i saw several influenza patients, none of whom were sick enough to be admitted but flu is starting and making a resurgence that we didn t see last year. and if you put that on top of coronavirus and the usual number of flu cases that get hospitalized, we re all sort of a bit stressed out about what the next month or so may bring. let me ask you, when you re seeing hospitals or patients come in, are they vaccinated, unvaccinated, what is the ratio. the vast majority, personally i have not seen a single person fully vaccinated that had to be hospitalized. we ve had a few so-called break-throughs for me personally and in our department, but most of those have been in people who have a couple of doses fts mrna or one dose of the johnson and johnson more than six months ago so they could have had the subsequent dose and we shouldn t ....
