PERRY â Floral designs etched into the hard, dark ceramic of pottery standing proud on podiums â a reminder of the origins where the clay has come from.
âI feel it relates to the idea that clay is just dirt,â said Andrew Foster, the artist who has brought the floral pottery to life in the Arts Council for Wyoming Countyâs latest exhibit. âAll the sort of things you use to just make glaze or things that go on it is just sort of things that have been dug out of the ground.â
Foster, a 26-year-old from Pittsford, is the 2020 Rising Star Artist for the Arts Council for Wyoming County. A 2017 graduate from Houghton College who majored in studio art and specialized in ceramics, most the artwork heâs created for the exhibit have been over the course of the pandemic.
