news 4 was first, live on the scene there, and melissa mollet has been at the scene all morning, covering this for us. she joins us now with the latest. melissa? reporter: good morning. at this point, investigators say the suspect is in his 20s, and they do believe that he acted alone. now, we have brand-new video to show you this afternoon. if we can roll that right now, his vehicle was towed out of here, just a short time ago, about 15 minutes ago. a red 2011 nissan. that vehicle, of course, the one that was parked along washington boulevard in the north lot of the pentagon, for much of the morning, causing all those traffic snarls. now, let me take you through a timeline of what happened here this morning. this all started early friday morning, when the suspect was found in arlington national cemetery, on those grounds, by police. he fled, they say, but then was caught by police a short time later. now, no word on why he was there or what he was doing there, but ....

in fallujah. barbara starr is live at the pentagon. this is a very, very tragic story. what are your sources telling you about what may have happened? well, john and kiran, this is the most terrible news for two military families, of course. the military announcing it does have a soldier in custody regarding this case. the man in custody is identified by the military as specialist neftali platero. suspected in shooting deaths of two soldiers. the two men died in this incident let s identify them for everyone. that is specialist john carillo, 20 years old of stockton, california, and nunan, 26, of watertown, connecticut. now they died on friday from what the military initially announced, indeed, as a non-combat incident. both men, part of the third infantry division out of ft. stewart, georgia. but specialist carrillo s mother told a local news affiliate that when she was informed about her son s death she was not told that it was suspected that another soldier had s ....
