That same attention to detail and community service efforts continued in college as 30 Chancellor’s Scholars Program recipients earned degrees during commencement ceremonies this past weekend.
Tony Randall Doty, age 63, of Flora, Illinois passed away early Thursday morning, May 4, 2023, at Deaconess Hospital in Newburgh Indiana. He was born March 16, 1960, in Olney, the son of Darryl Randall and Elizabeth Ann (Ring) Doty. He was united in marriage to Dana Jo Jones on September 23, 2010, in Louisville, and together they have shared 12 wedding anniversaries. Tony was a 1978 graduate of Flora High School. He had been employed at Minwax in Flora since 1979, working most recently as a Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin and motorcycle riding. Tony's biggest joy in life was spending time with his family as a loving father, husband, and son. He had been a dedicated member of the Flora Fire Department for 36 years, serving as Assistant Chief in his most recent years. It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda L. Eastin, 85, early Tuesday morning, April 11, 2023, surrounded by her friends and family in Denver, Colorado. Wanda, born on November 12, 1937, to Lewis and Nora (Warren) DeSelms in Zenith, now rural Xenia. Wanda's early life was spent as a typical kid in Zenith/Johnsonville, Illinois. Wanda and her parents relocated where she would attend the Flora Junior and High School and it was there at the Flora High School where Wanda met her late husband, Russel Dean Eastin. Married on March 3, 1957, at the Flora Community of Christ Church, they were inseparable from that point on. After graduating high school, Wanda went on to pursue a degree in Home Economics from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, as well as a BS in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. Wanda fell in love with teaching and taught for 25 years at North Clay CUSD as a kindergarten and 5th grade teacher. Wanda had the biggest
