Cobre Tire founder Bob Fletcher dies at age 100

Robert L. Fletcher, founder and owner of Cobre Tire Co., died Dec. 6 at age 100.
PEORIA, Ariz. Robert L. Fletcher, founder and owner of Cobre Tire Co., died Dec. 6 at age 100.
A native of Phoenix, decorated World War II veteran and serial entrepreneur, Mr. Fletcher in 1970 founded Cobre Tire, a commercial tire dealership and retreading concern focused on the mining and construction industries.
Mr. Fletcher
sold the business s commercial assets, which had grown to 33 outlets and several retreading plants, in 1997 to Bridgestone Firestone Inc.
Along the way, he set up Fletcher Racing Team, in part to help promote Cobre Tire. The racing team was active in Indy Car racing from 1973-1982, running cars at the Indianapolis 500 and other venues for racers such as Bobby Unser, Pancho Carter, Art Pollard and Lee Kunzman, among others. ....

Holiday Hours: The library will offer Curbside Service from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Dec. 24. The library will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. The library will be open for Curbside Service and Browsing Tent Appointments from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Dec. 31. The library will reopen for Curbside Service and Browsing Tent appointments at 10 a.m. on Jan. 2.
Library limited reopening: The library has had a “soft opening” for limited browsing, per Gov. Charlie Baker’s reopening guidelines under Phase 3. In addition to curbside pickup, book the browse tent, laptop on the lawn and reference phone assistance, we will re-open a portion of the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays as follows: entry will be through the rear parking lot door and exit through the Main Street entrance; residents should leave their returns in the drive-through bookdrop; all patrons must be masked, attest to the door entry questions and maintain six foot social distancing ....
