Much of the Roosevelt National Forest burned by the Cameron Peak Fire remains closed, but the area s more popular winter trails are open.
The fire spread through 208,913 acres within its 325-mile perimeter; surveys found 80% of it burned.
Despite the devastation, much of the popular Cameron Pass area is open. This includes the Cameron Pass Trailhead and restroom, Cameron Connection Trail, Zimmerman Lake and Zimmerman Loop trails and Montgomery Pass.

Rocky Mountain National Park reopens west-side entrance

The Grand Lake entrance on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park and about 10 miles of U.S. 34 from the gate north to the Colorado River trailhead have reopened, ending a closure caused by the East Troublesome Fire in October. The current closure at the Colorado River trailhead is the normal west-side closure for Trail Ridge Road in the winter.
Trail Ridge Road was closed for the season on the east side of the park at Many Parks Curve on Nov. 17. Trail Ridge tops out at 12,183 feet and becomes impassable in the winter due to heavy snowfall. It normally reopens around Memorial Day. ....

Cameron Peak Fire: Watch as Estes Park sees flames from town as blaze continues

Rocky Mountain National Park has reopened additional areas previously closed due to the East Troublesome Fire that burned during the fire s historic run Oct. 21.
The fire ran approximately 18 miles before it moved into the west side of the park, spotted over the Continental Divide and crept to the edge of Estes Park before favorable weather helped firefighters halt the fire s advance several days later.
