Sea Power and the Chinese State: China's Maritime Ambitions

The expansion of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is in many ways a logical and even forgone conclusion. China is the world’s second-largest economy; its heavy dependence on trade inevitably makes the seas of growing importance to national well-being. Yet as China’s maritime ambitions continue to expand, the U.S. is faced with a challenging task: recognizing Chinese interests without acceding to Chinese demands. How America meets this challenge will determine the future of the Asia–Pacific region and whether America’s maritime dominance will continue through the next century.

Wisconsin 2021-2022 Fishing Season Opens On Saturday

By Kevin Zimmermann Apr 27, 2021 6:46 AM (WHBL) – Anglers hoping to hook “the big one” will be able to start their quests on Saturday as the Wisconsin DNR officially opens the general fishing season with favorable forecasts for a good catch. DNR Fisheries Management Bureau Director Justine Hasz expects 2021 to be even better than last year, when the pandemic had many on high alert while itching to get outdoors.  The DNR warns that not much has changed this year, with boat launches likely being crowded again.  And just as last year, face masks and social distancing are being encouraged. While the DNR says that outlooks for all species look good this year, those fishing for trout should be in luck.  In Sheboygan County the agency has stocked around 7,000 fingerling and yearling trout in six locations for the annual spring catchable trout season, and expects those locations to be a hit this opening weekend.
