Dr. Stephen J.C. Andes will give a lecture at the Louisiana Scholars’ College at Northwestern State University on Thursday, October 13 at 3 p.m. in Room 227 of Morrison Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.<br/><br/>The lecture “The Mark of Douglas Fairbanks: How Hollywood’s First Power Couple Took Zorro from the Pulp Pages to the Silver Screen,” is presented in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.<br/><br/>Andes is an associate professor of history at Louisiana State University. He is the author of three books of nonfiction, including his most recent, “Zorro’s Shadow: How a Mexican Legend Became America’s First Superhero.” It was named among the Best Non-Western and POC Fantasy Books of 2020 (Den of Geek) and included in The Chicago Tribune’s 12 Must-Reads of Fall 2020.
