Planning commissioners ask staff to look beyond easy


Commissioners asked city staff to look for alternative locations to fulfill housing opportunity requirements as outlined in the state mandated Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) in the latest round of the Housing Element update at the March 11 Galt Planning Commission meeting.
City staff and consultants Amy Yang and Rick Rust from Mintier Harnish met with the commission in February to give an overview of the state requirements for the Housing Element, which included providing zoning for 1,926 new housing units during the 2021-29 housing cycle. Of the nearly 2,000 new units, 404 need to be accessible to very low-income families, 243 for low income, 379 for moderate income and 900 for above moderate income. ....

Dover NH economic leader sees uplifting news amid challenges


DOVER The city s economy is still struggling to rebound in many key areas, but a report by Director of Economic Development Daniel Barufaldi shows there are a few bright spots among the continued somber predictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The biggest uplifting news is the residential real estate market, which Barufaldi said has been  record-breaking and booming  in terms of home values and price points year-over-year.
The price of median house sale is $350,000, and that s 42% higher than the same house last year, which is amazing,  Barufaldi said. The number of days on the market were way down, averaging about three weeks, and our inventory is in real short supply. ....
