Casner, who has served 16 years as fire chief, was honored earlier this month at a Town Council meeting. In announcing the award, Council Chair Rob Oris outlined Casnerâs long history with the town. âChief Casner has served 16 years as chief of the Cheshire Fire Department, and many more years as a volunteer firefighter, and he reflects Cheshire in the highest standards,â Oris said. âChief Casner also serves as the Town of Cheshire Emergency Manager, and has been working around the clock during the pandemic to service the needs of the community.â ....

The hot plate was left unattended by an inmate who left his room to go to a recreation session, Fire Chief Jack Casner said. When the fire alarm sounded at the prison, the majority of the inmates were immediately put in lockdown as a precaution. Firefighters left the prison about 25 minutes after arriving, Casner said. ....
