'No means no': Christchurch students raise awareness about sexual violence

Alfie Smeele hopes the Culture CHCHange group can gain momentum in its activism.
“I think this is an amazing first event, I think it gives us an opportunity to make change from here and bring this issue into public awareness, Smeele said. “We hope this new movement can gain momentum.”
Saturday s chalking event followed last month’s chalk graffiti messages at Christchurch Boys’ High School supporting women and LGBTQIA+ rights. Those messages were followed by a protest involving more than 100 Christchurch Girls’ High students in the same week.
Finleck Ilalio, a 16-year-old, year 12 student at Rolleston College who attended Saturday s event said it was important to protect teenagers and kids who had experienced sexual violence or harassment. ....
