Aardman and Netflix’s ‘Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget’ and Sky Cinema’s ‘The Amazing Maurice’ among the selections in the Best Feature Film category; winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on March 7.
Orphans of the Tide by Struan Murray (Puffin) is the 2021 Branford Boase Award winner. The prize is shared with the book’s editor, Ben Horslen.
Witch by Finbar Hawkins (Head of Zeus) was also among the seven titles on the 2021 shortlist.
The Branford Boase award is “given annually to the author of an outstanding debut novel for children.” The author and editor of the winning title each receive an engraved trophy, and the author receives £1,000. Judges were Zoey Dixon, Julia Eccleshare (chair), Scott Evans, Liz Hyder, and Natasha Radford.

A new Wallace and Gromit adventure uses augmented reality to create a “new form of storytelling”, its creators have said as the story launches as a free app.
Wallace & Gromit: Big Fix Up is available on iOS and Android and tells the story of the famous pair’s latest venture to clean up the city of Bristol using their contraptions.
Combining mini-games, computer-generated animation and interactive storytelling, the app sees players become part of the team at the duo’s firm Spick & Spanners, helping them fix and clean up the city in a real-time adventure that takes place over several weeks.
