Collective effort needed for Malta to get off grey list ‘as soon as possible’– IFSP

Although the news that Malta has been grey listed by the Financial Advisory Task Force (FATF) is not positive, all stakeholders should come together, share information between them and execute a plan of action so that the country would make it back on to the white list “as soon as possible”, representatives from The Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP) told The Malta Independent on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Malta was grey listed by the FATF. In a press conference on Friday, the FATF explained that even though good progress has been made since a report in 2019 found serious deficiencies in Malta’s jurisdiction, there still remains work which has to be done. This would include areas concerning criminal tax related issues and money laundering issues, and more support ....

The Government will continue with its work, as it did prior to the Moneyval result, so that it can get off the Financial Advisory Task Force (FATF)’s greylist as soon as possible, Prime Minister Robert Abela said in an interview on party media on Sunday.
The unwelcome news of Malta’s greylisting by the FATF on Wednesday stirred a lot of doubts as to what Malta should expect in the coming weeks and months, especially economically. The Institute for Financial Services Practitioners told ....

The Government is not planning to change any tactics in terms for economic recovery when it comes to enterprises, as it took the Financial Advisory Task Force (FATF) assessment, among other issues, into account when drafting the recovery plan, Minister for Energy and Enterprise, Miriam Dalli, told

However, Dalli said that the Government is not going to change anything from the tactic of economic recovery as they had taken this situation into consideration. “We are absolutely not going to change the tactic … because with the previsions that we have made, we always took into considerations the situations that our country would be going through,” she said. ....
