A man in eastern China has contracted what appears to be the first human case of H10N3, a type of avian influenza, according to Chinese regime officials.
The 41-year-old man, who wasn’t identified, was hospitalized in late April with H10N3 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, located near Shanghai, according to China’s National Health Commission in a statement on its website.
The commission stated that no other cases have been reported.
“This infection is an accidental cross-species transmission,” its statement said, while also claiming that “the risk of large-scale transmission is low,” according to a Chinese-to-English translation. ....

A 41-year-old man in China's eastern province of Jiangsu has been confirmed as the first human case of infection with a rare strain of bird flu known as H10N3, Beijing's National Health Commission (NHC) has said. The man, a resident of the city of Zhenjiang, was hospitalized on April 28 and diagnosed with H10N3 on May 28, the health commission said on Tuesday, adding that his condition is stable. The World Health Organization (WHO) said while the source of the patient's exposure to the H10N3 virus was not known and no other cases were found among the local population, there was no indication of human-to-human transmission yet. ....

First human case of H10N3

BEIJING: A human infection with the H10N3 strain of avian influenza was found in Zhenjiang City of east China’s Jiangsu Province, the National Health Commission (NHC) said.
The patient, a 41-year-old man, developed fever and other symptoms on April 23 and was hospitalised on April 28.
“He is now in stable condition and has broadly met the standards for discharge, ” the NHC noted yesterday.
All close contacts of the patient in Jiangsu had been placed under medical observation and emergency monitoring had been initiated, said the NHC, adding that nothing abnormal had been detected.
The Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention carried out whole-genome sequencing of the specimen on May 28 and the result was positive for the H10N3 virus. ....
