Lack of competition in the broadband market means the majority of households use just four providers to connect their home, new research has revealed.
Some 21million households are with the Big Four providers which include Sky, Virgin, BT and TalkTalk, according to data from Compare the Market.
It found that four in five households have not switched provider in more than a year and those that have are often stuck with a mainstream supplier with the four suppliers taking up 81 per cent of switches.
The news comes as the UK is into its third national lockdown that will see many households continue to video call, home school and use streaming services.
